‘For the players’

Same wishful thinking of cross-play from a developer, same song and dance from a platform holder that doesn’t want it.

Last generation it was Microsoft, but now the tables have turned and Sony is the holdout — in an era where Nintendo and Microsoft are buddying up and making crossplay a huge selling point, it’s getting a little old. Speaking to Gamestar.de, Bethesda, specifically Todd Howard, seems frustrated.

Howard explained, in regards toFallout 76: “We would have loved [cross-platform] withFallout 76but right now we can’t. Sony is not as helpful as everyone would like, but we’ll see what happens in the future.” To re-iterate PC and Xbox One can play together.

We’re past the point where one or two studios complain about Sony (when it was justRocket League‘s Psyonix Sony was probably brushing it off); now we have Epic Games and a whole host of AAA publishers pointing the finger.Bethesda is no stranger to Sony’s strict policies either— maybe they’ll be the one to get something done?

I feel like I say that when anyone else steps up to the plate, but hopefully it’ll be different this time; that ominous quote from Todd Howard about “we’ll see what happens” gives me false hope.
