Although the Black-led soap uses manyfavorite soap tropes, Anita has a storyline that is fairly unique for daytime television, as she is a former professional singer who has recently gotten back together with the women she used to perform with.

The Articulates Story Will Be Far More Than A Chance For Tamara Tunie To Sing
This story is strong in part because it allows Tunie to show off her musical skills, something which has been part ofBeyond The Gatesfrom the beginning. However,the show has also built up drama around the Articulates. One woman left the group under less than ideal circumstances and later committed suicide, leaving behind a letter that blamed Anita.
Thus, there was already tension around the group’s return to the stage, and it was likely someone would try to sabotage Anita. However,Beyond the Gatesups the ante by having Leslie be the saboteur. Leslie has been the Duprees' worst enemy, and her daughter, Eva, has divided the family because of her involvement in her mother’s schemes.
Most tellingly, in the video, Kat and Eva are standing together when Leslie makes her grand entrance.This incident could widen the rift between the half-sisters, but it also could force them to work together against Leslieand ultimately bring them closer.

Leslie’s Inclusion In This Story Is Perfect, Especially If It Finally Leads To Her Downfall
Many of Leslie’s schemes are over the top, and she has proven there is no line she won’t cross to get what she wants. Considering that she ran Laura off the road just to get Eva a temporary job in Nicole’s office,Leslie’s presence at the Articulettes' show is dangerous— especially given that there is unresolved tension between the group members to begin with.
Eva will need to pick a side.
That said, this storyline needs to finally lead to significant comeuppance for Leslie.Beyond The Gatesshouldn’t shy away from punishing the diva for her behavior. Additionally, Eva will need to pick a side. Hopefully, she stands up against her mother and begins to heal her feud with Kat after this incident.
