We ’ve had a week to allow David Tennant ’s going away sink in , and now it ’s full steam ahead , all systems go , and , well , GERONIMO for theEleventh Doctor . So what hint does the 5th series trailer time lag ? Spoilers and conjecture ahoy !
What follows is a mixture of analysis of the house trailer itself , my own ( hopefully ) train guesswork based on what we imagine we already know from set reports and the fine ethnic music at Gallifrey Base ( a capital chart of which can be foundhere ) , plus some reactions and popular opinion . Is everyone sit well ? Then we can begin …
In case you have n’t had a luck to view it yet ( or desire a refresher course , consider the insane levels of microanalysis we ’re about to get into ) , here ’s the trailer , in the gallery below .

Now then , let ’s get to work !
As the Doctor himself ask , “ What have you get for me this time ? ” We ’re about to find out .
Just in case anyone still doubt the Doctor ’s new companion Amy ( Karen Gillan ) is really a law military officer ( I imply , that skirt really does n’t wait like it ’s regularization length ) , here ’s the Doctor entering what appear like a police station in his launching . I ’m basing that on what seems to be police trimming on the right wall . Oh , and you’re able to tell it ’s his first episode becauseMatt Smithis still fag David Tennant ’s costume .

The Doctor is frightened of something in the dark . I have a guess as to what that something might be , but permit ’s await until we actually get to see it . Since the Doctor is wearing his own costume here ( you could just make out the right sleeve of the cap ) , that stand for this is a unlike installment from his debut . It ’s deserving pointing out that if you go back and watch the quondam “ Coming presently ” trailer forthefirstfourseries , they ’ve always shown clip from only the first seven episodes of the series , and that ’s in all probability also the case here .
If anyone was wonder whether the Eleventh Doctor will keep up the grandDoctor Whotradition of running all over the plaza , it for certain look like he will . With gusto .
This is the third instalment we see a clip from . Judging by the costume , this is likely Toby Whithouse ’s episode , which is position in 16th century Venice . Whithouse previously indite “ School Reunion ” back in the 2d serial publication , as well as the first series Torchwood episode “ Greeks Bearing Gifts ” .

I do n’t have any real analysis here ; I just love this little piece of business with the sunglass . Really make me finger like Matt Smith is the Dr. .
I know I ’ve said that Doctor Who should scale down the order of magnitude of its threats after the incomprehensibly Brobdingnagian scope of “ Journey ’s End ” and “ The End of Time ” , but I ’m not certain placing a bunch of phone booth in danger of blowup is really quite enough cloth for an sequence . Actually , scratch that – I would love an episode like that . Still , there ’s probably more going on here .
No , wait ! More things are blow up , and this time it ’s the Doctor ’s beloved sonic screwdriver . The series last killed off the sonic screwdriver in the Peter Davison semi - classic “ The Visitation ” , although obviously the Doctor will just be getting a new one . I wonder if the new screwdriver will count at all like the oneRiver Songused back in “ muteness in the Library”/”Forest of the Dead ” . Now what would put an musical theme like that in my head … ?

I ’m middling indisputable this is the same episode as the one where the Doctor is hold the flashlight . count like the medico will be mixing it up with the military once again .
I think this is from yet another dissimilar episode . So that ’s four dissimilar stories we ’ve catch coup d’oeil of so far . Honestly , I have no idea what could be go on here , but I ’m pretty excited to find out . I approximate the drone is doing its business .
And here ’s the fifth distinguishable sequence . Based on the uniform , hit man in the background , and the prominent Union Jack , I ’m pretty sure this is an U. S. Army base during World War II . That fit with the episode Mark Gatiss is writing , which features the dramatic return of … well , we ’ll get to that shortly . Gatiss previously wrote “ The Unquiet Dead ” and “ The Idiot ’s Lantern ” , and he toy Professor Lazarus in “ The Lazarus Experiment . ”

In lawsuit anyone is worried that that punch is the start of a raw , darker , more violent Doctor , just take a look at Matt Smith ’s face . He ’s clearly as surprised as we are .
It ’s futuristic soldiers track down monsters underground ! That remind me of another Peter Davison semi - authoritative , namely the first installment of “ Earthshock ” . ( If another installment randomly features the Master showing up and sending the Concorde back to the Mesozoic Era , then we knowSteven Moffatis just straight up stealing from time of year nineteen . And yes , what I just described really bump once . ) But which fiend are they hunting ?
Hey , it ’s theWeeping Angels ! I think this stool them the first monsters make solely for the new series to make a spectacular return appearance . Unless you number all the multiplication the Slitheen have popped up on The Sarah Jane Adventures . Which I do n’t . Oh , and the Ood , I suppose . But it is n’t really fair to call them monsters , now is it ?

More running around from the Eleventh Doctor ’s debut . Honestly , it looks like they made Matt Smith run a marathon for this episode .
commend Toby Whithouse ’s episode ? The one readiness in 16th one C Venice ? Yeah , it ’s apparently call “ Vampires in Venice . ” I ca n’t imagine why .
Steven Moffat is distinctly trust to preserve his title as “ New Who ’s Most Terrifying Writer . ” I have no idea what that could be , and I ’m already having nightmare .

And the Daleks are back ! Honestly , count me among those that felt a bit of Dalek fatigue duty after their umpteenth return from sure annihilation in “ The Stolen Earth”/”Journey ’s End . ” ( Did you know the unexampled series has had as many Dalek stories in four year as the Fourth , Fifth , Sixth , and Seven Doctors had flux ? That ’s a true fact . ) Still , I ’ve take to admit that , after more than a class aside , it is kind of nice to see the old pepperpots again . This looks like it ’s from Mark Gatiss ’s World War II sequence , which fits with the rumors of Winston Churchill using the Daleks as part of the war endeavour . That ’s plausibly why the Doctor punched that squeamish scientist dude .
This is right after Amy and the bozo behind her are blinded by a bright flash of light . Since the TARDIS does n’t normally do that , I ’m guess something else is around spend a penny worry . Between this and the exploding phone booths , it search like the Doctor is n’t just running around for his wellness .
Whatever that woman gave the Doctor , it seems to have lead him a bit perturbed . I think this is from the same episode as the previous clip of the woman with the two gun . All of that might be from the second installment , of which very little is make love other than Steven Moffat is write it and it might be mostly TARDIS - based . Which , debate there ’s a brand new TARDIS adjust to explore , could actually be pretty cool .

I originally call back these were aliens , but these might actually be the Silurians from Chris Chibnall ’s two - parter . in the beginning reckon in the Jon Pertwee series “ Doctor Who and the Silurians ” , these level-headed reptile were the original inhabitants of Earth millions of years before humanness . Their cousins , the Sea Devils , were introduce a span years later in an episode of the same name , and both returned in the Peter Davison non - classic “ Warriors of the Deep . ” Chris Chibnall is intimately known as the original showrunner for Torchwood , but he also wrote the moderately strong third serial episode “ 42 . ”
That Silurian is either scared , heartbroken , or confuse . I think he ’s watch Karen Gillan hightail it away from him , and those are probably all emotions I would find if that bechance to me .
Oh , and Amy Pond come out to be wearing a different outfit here than she does in any of the other clipping we see , which again points at this all being from an otherwise unobserved episode .

Well , I see Steven Moffat is maintain some of Russell T. Davies ’s traditions very much animated . In this case , that tradition is putting massively misleading Doctor / Companion kisses in the drone for the upcoming series . ( late illustration include Lady Cassandra snogging the Doctor while in Rose ’s body and Donna giving the Doctor a life sentence - saving buss in “ The Unicorn and the Wasp . ” ) If you want my wild guess , I would reckon this is correct at the final stage of the Weeping Angels episode , because she ’s wearing the same outfit as the other clips from the episode . It looks like they ’re back on present - 24-hour interval Earth , and I bet Amy is so glad to have escaped with her lifetime that she ca n’t quite help herself . I could be completely wrong though . In any issue , the Doctor looks completely flummox by the whole thing .
This is our first looking at at the redesigned TARDIS , with the Doctor working on something in the back of the figure . Unfortunately , this is just the mo under the console , so this glimpse is n’t quite as solid ground - shattering as it otherwise might be .
Well , at least we know Matt Smith can hold his own in a Dalek close - up .

guess by the color of its plating , that ’s a dissimilar Dalek than the one in the previous clip . This is the variety of expert analysis you ca n’t get anywhere else !
I ’m not quite sure what to make of this , so I ’m going to again take over this is from the second episode . Actually , considering that episode is hypothecate to involve monks with keys , that ’s probably a pretty shrewd guess .
Hey , “ Tooth and Claw ” ! Steven Moffat sees your kung fu monks and alien wolfman and raises you vampire swordsman ! I ’m bid it now – this instalment is move to be insane .

If nothing else , Karen Gillan really have intercourse how to search shocked . Which is probably the first requirement for any Doctor Who companion , actually , so that works out well .
River Song is back ! Time to put it all together , I retrieve . Between all these clipping andsome place photos from way back in July , we ’ve got River Song , the 41st C armed forces , the Weeping Angels , and the crash of the Byzantium originally mentioned in “ secretiveness in the Library ” . This is Steven Moffat ’s first two - parter , the individual episodes are supposedly called “ The Time of Angels ” and “ Flesh and Blood ” , and I formally ca n’t wait .

This is probably from the Doctor ’s debut story , if only because it looks like the only one of the first six sequence set on contemporary Earth .
Who want to wager those lights are about to go out ?
That ’s what I recall .

Geronimo , indeed . I ’m not entirely convinced by the Doctor ’s need to have yet another catchphrase , but if that ’s my biggest problem with the laggard , I ’m in pretty serious form .
Karen Gillan is also good at looking terrorize . Forget what I said sooner about await shocked – this is the first requirement for any doc Who associate .
Of course , it appear like Amy has good reason to be scared . I ’m really not indisputable what to make of this scene . She ’s wearing a completely unlike costume from what we see in any other clip , and it ’s hard to match this barb visually with anything else in the house trailer . This might be from the seventh episode , of which very little is known other than it ’s being written by Simon Nye , who is well known for creating the genuinely fantabulous nineties sitcom Men Behaving Badly .

I see the Doctor and River Song get close this time of year . And so the Doctor ’s great romance begins …
And as we come to a last , we bring back for one last guess of Venice . It ’s good to see that , wherever lamia go , arcane ceremonies are never far behind .
A third thing Doctor Who companions have to be good at : run ! I ’m starting to think I could be a Dr. Who companion . Well , aside from all the running game , of course .

So what can we take off from the trailer ? The series is steer to the 16th C , World War II , and the far futurity . We can look forward to the replication of old enemies and the intro of new giant and aliens , and we ’re also run short to revisit one of the biggest revelation of the last series . But mainly , we ’re barreling forward into new adventures with a new Doctor and a unexampled companion .
And that ’s just the first half of the serial . badly , this ought to be good .
The Doctor even fires a gun for hire ! perchance … at someting ! Someone ? Who knows ! ? I do n’t !

“ bank me , I ’m the MD . ” Here ’s hoping truer parole were never spoken .
