Complexity Stars HBCU Rebirth Rumble will see students at HBCUs will team up with pro athletes and Warzone content creators to compete for a $10,000 prize pool
Complexity Gaming is teaming up with Historic Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in support of Black History Month with a unique $10,000 Call of Duty: Warzone tournament. The event will feature past and present NBA players and Call of Duty content creators. They’ll team up with HBCU students to compete in the Complexity Stars HBCU Rebirth Rumble.
Announced on February 17th in a release by Complexity Gaming and parent company GameSquare Esports, the Warzone event will take place on February 28th. With a 3v3 format, each trio will have a Complexity Stars athletes orCall of Dutyinfluencer on their team. HBCU students making up the rest of the squad.
Playing Warzone to support HBCUs
The teams will compete in eight matches of Warzone’s Rebirth mode.Complexity has also teamed up with Baka Bros creatorLuckyChamu, who will be guest casting the event.
But rather than just a chance for a few students to win big, the Warzone tournament looks to support all HBCUs with a charity drive hosted alongside. Complexity is promotinga portal to donate to the HBCU Foundation, a charity which supports HBCUs and their students.
As per the HBCU Foundation “more than 75% of students attending HBCU member schools express the need for financial assistance.” The donations will benefit students that would otherwise struggle to pay for school supplies, books, lab fees, and other costs of attending Colleges and Universities.

Big Names for Complexity’s Great Cause
The star-studded Warzone event features Complexity’s stable of so-called Complexity Stars athletes. As a result the tournament will feature J.R. Smith,Sean O’Malley, Megan Anderson, Leonard Fournette, and Edwin Rios.
But the Warzone community is also well represented. Thomas “Tommey” Trewren, “Swishem,” “iSmixie,” “JaredFPS,” and Duane “Zeno” Jacson are slated to participate. Additional competitors will be announced at a later date.
Former NBA player and two-time NBA champion J.R. Smith commented on the event: “As a student at NC A&T, I’m eager to find new ways to engage with my peers. Thanks to my partnership with Complexity Stars, we were able to make the Rebirth Rumble possible and give students a unique opportunity to compete alongside world class athletes and top Call of Duty content creators.”
