Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Dexter: Resurrection season 1, episode 6.Dexter: Resurrectionepisode 6 featured one of the best twists surrounding a serial killer since the Ice Truck Killer in the originalDexter19 years ago. Leon Prater’s group ofnew serial killers inDexter: Resurrectionhas given Dexter a whole host of targets on a silver platter. After killing Lowell and Mia, Dexter set his sights on the Gemini Killer inResurrectionepisode 6.

Several ofDexter’s best villainsalso had some level of mystery surrounding them. The Runaway Killer inDexter: New Blood, for instance, kept his identity secret for several episodes, whileDexterseason 1 is essentially a murder mystery. Now, however, after 19 years,Resurrectionhas finally crafted a new serial killer twist that rivals even the Ice Truck Killer.

The Gemini Killer Being Twins Is An Incredible Twist For Dexter: Resurrection

AsDexter: Resurrectionepisode 6 revealed, the Gemini Killer isn’t just Gareth, it’s also his twin brother. Dexter killed either Gareth or the twin, only to have the other Gemini board Leon Prater’s helicopter at the end of the episode. Even though the twin imagery of Gemini was staring Dexter and the viewers in the face, that reveal came as a big shock.

The reveal that Gemini is two killers, not one, also works perfectly inDexter: Resurrection’s overarching narrative. As Dexter noted, it would have been incredibly suspicious if Lowell, Mia, and Gemini all disappeared right after “Red” joined the group. Dexter’s process of hunting Gemini - while it did include a thrilling game of mental chess - also deserved a bit more time and effort.

Now, Gemini is presenting a problem Dexter has never had to face before. The surviving character, whether it’s Gareth or his yet-unnamed twin, is going to be on the lookout now, and Dexter doesn’t know anything about them. Gareth also hid his twin from Prater for years, so they shouldn’t be easy to find. The Gemini reveal completely changes the next few episodes ofResurrection.

The Gemini Killer’s Twins Reveal Is The Best Villain Twist Since The Ice Truck Killer

Dexter: Resurrection’s reveal about the Gemini Killers is arguably the most surprising twist we’ve gotten since the Ice Truck Killer. As most know, the Ice Truck Killer was really Dexter’s long-lost brother, Brian Moser, though nobody could have predicted that. That reveal was a complete surprise, it made all the pieces of the investigation fit into place, and it was as close to perfect asDexterhas ever gotten.

Dexterhas tried to outdo the Ice Truck Killer revelation before, but to no avail. Captain Spencer’s identity as the kidnapper inDexter: Original Sinarguably came the closest, but many viewers were able to piece the mystery together well before it was revealed. The Gemini Killers reveal is the only time sinceDexterseason 1 that I, for one, was actually taken off guard.

The Gemini Killers reveal also fits perfectly with howResurrectionhas been trying to return to the tone and feel of the early seasons ofDexter. The reveal was the kind of unexpected, game changing bombshell that made the first four seasons ofDexterso addictive. IfDexter: Resurrectioncan pull a surprise like this midway through its season, I can’t wait to see what else is in store.
