Blizzard has made perhaps its most dramatic alteration yet toDiablo III— reducing the difficulty spike that occurs whenever another player enters somebody’s game. Previously, monsters would gain extra health and damage for every player in a co-op game. Now, they will only gain extra health.

A few fixes have also been issued, and smashed vases no longer provide as much gold as they used to — bad news for anybody trying to buy some 500,000,000 piece of crap in the Auction House. Check out the full fix list …

It’s going to be interesting to see what players make of this. Many Inferno players will likely appreciate the leniency, though I am sure others will accuse Blizzard of further “dumbing down” the experience. What do you reckon? Is the damage reduction merciful or patronizing?
