Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Mysteries of Skull Rock update is finally here, and while the introduction of Peter Pan is undoubtedly the most exciting aspect of it, some other notable changes are also coming to older aspects of the game. Between new friends, events, and quality of life updates, players will suddenly have more on their plates than they know what to do with.
Unfortunately, this update does not include thefinale for theStorybook Valeexpansion, so players will have to wait a bit longer for that, but it will still be arriving this summer on July 9th, 2025, bringing Aurora to the valley. However, with everything that’s included in this update, there will be more than enough to keep you busy until then.

10Have A Seat In Photos
Explore New Photo Possibilities With The Ability To Stay Seated On Camera
Selfies inDisney Dreamlight Valleyhave certainly come a long way since the game’s release. Starting from a very limited point, they’ve gone on to include new poses, perspectives, and even companions, and now they’re getting another new update. Previously, the only two options you had while posing inDisney Dreamlight Valleywere standing or crouching.
Now, however,Disney Dreamlight Valleyis allowing players to sit for photos, adding to the possibilities that can be accomplished for Dreamsnaps or personal use. Although this is the most notable change to the photo option, there are also someminor retouching and toggling updates to the feature as well, giving you more customization than ever as you snap the perfect shots.
9Bring The Little Mermaid’s Friendly Pup, Max, To The Valley
Reunite Prince Eric & Max By Unlocking A New Premium Bundle
Now that both Ariel and Prince Eric have been welcomed to the valley, you can’t help but feel as if someone else is missing. As it stands, not many Disney movie companions have made it intoDisney Dreamlight Valleyaside from Pua, Heihei, Figaro, Baby Pegasus, and a few others. So, it’s always a nice surprise when another familiar fact gets added to the list, which in this case is Prince Eric’s beloved pup, Max, fromThe Little Mermaid.
Unfortunately, Max won’t be available through the Star Path or other free means and must instead be purchased fromDisney Dreamlight Valley’s premium shop. The bundle he’s part of will be available for 4,500 Moonstones and include him, his Houseboat pet home, and a nautical-themed fireplace. This bundle will only be available for a limited time, so be sure to act while you can if you have your eye on it.
8The Premium Shop Gets Some QOL Changes
Enjoy An Expanded List Of Recommended Items In The Premium Shop & New Moonstone Packs
In addition to the new content, there will also be some other small quality-of-life updates and changes to the Premium Shop. For starters, players will now have more options than ever while sifting through their shop items asthe recommended section will be expanded to include six items at a time.
Although this might seem like a small change, if you’ve painstakingly checked the shop each time it updates, waiting for that one item you missed, then you know how valuable it is to have more options available to increase your odds. In addition to this change, there are also updates to the Moonstone Packs. These typically include seasonal cosmetics that are rewarded as part of the Moonstone purchase.
7Participate In Festive Summer Events
Enjoy Treasure Hunts, Roasted Marshmallows, Unique Rewards, & More This Summer
While events may not kick off right at the start of the update, Mysteries of Skull Rock will include two unique ones. The first, Troves of Treasure, is an event themed to the content of the update itself, in which players will embark on a treasure hunt like true pirates. By following your map and solving riddles, you’ll be able to unlock fascinating new rewards.
As for the other event highlight, this one will focus more on summer in general. The Summer Sizzlin' event will mark the return of marshmallows, which appear throughout the valley similarly to the way eggs do during the Easter event. These will undoubtedly be used to create some tasty new recipes, as they did in the2024 End of Summer Event, and unlock some fun summer rewards.
6Turn Your Companions Into Friends
Befriend & Name Your Companions To Unlock Their Assistance
Perhaps one of the most surprising announcements forDisney Dreamlight Valleywas the news thatcompanions will now feature their own friendships. Rather than being tag-along buddies that simply follow you around and enjoy a nice pet every once in a while, players will now actually be able tomax out a friendship with companions, the same way you would any other villager.
Each companion type has a specific resource they will help you collect when active, aside from the Disney character companions and a few other unique ones. Additionally, expansion companions will collect resources unique to their respective expansions, which include Timebending Parts and Snippets.
Thankfully, however, their friendship levels are lower, so you won’t need to worry about suddenly having a mountain of friendships to get through. Through friendship, you’ll be able to unlock rewards unique to them, including the ability to expand your inventory when they’re present, and your companion can even assist you in collecting resources. With all this new time you’ll spend with them, don’t forget thatyou can also now give them a custom name.
5The Forgotten Has Finally Been Remembered
The Forgotten Will No Longer Sulk About The Valley Without Purpose
If you finishedDisney Dreamlight Valley’s base story back when it was released over a year ago, then you know thatthe Forgotten has become a bit irrelevantever since. After defeating them, they became a permanent resident of the valley, but without the ability to befriend them or do anything else with them, they were more a ghost of your past than a true villager.
Now, however, that is finally no longer the case. Rather than lonely sulking through the valley, the Forgotten can now be befriendedjust like every othercharacter inDisney Dreamlight Valley, with their own unique rewards to unlock at each level. Given how irrelevant the Forgotten seemingly became over the last year, it’s nice to see them finally becoming something more. Weirdly enough, you’ll also get the opportunity to name them, officially giving them their own identity.
4Create Custom Water Paths With The Never Land River Kit
Waterscaping Arrives In Disney Dreamlight Valley Through A Premium Shop Item
As some players initially suspected after seeing the original Developer Update video for Mysteries of Skull Rock,Disney Dreamlight Valleyis finally bringing waterscaping to the valley, at least to some extent. With the Never Land River Kit, players will be able to create their own waterway, providing the first opportunity for any sort of landscape construction or deconstruction in the game.
Unfortunately, this is an optional item that is only available through the Premium Shop for 3,500 Moonstone. Although this has been a highly requested feature, most hoped that it would come in the form of a free update that was automatically implemented, not as something that would potentiallycost them $20 in Moonstones. Additionally, since Apple Arcade players do not have access to the Premium Shop, they will not be able to access the kit or the new water features.
3Embrace Pirates & Mermaids With The Adventures In Never Land Star Path
Enjoy Nautical Themed Furniture, Cosmetics, & More With The New Summer Star Path
As always, part ofDisney Dreamlight Valley’s new update includes an all-new Star Path. The Star Path for Mysteries of Skull Rock,Adventures in Never Land, is themed, unsurprisingly, around pirates, mermaids, and all things ocean life. Players can unlock various underwater-themed furniture as well as cosmetics and even new Dream Styles for Minnie and Goofy.
Given how few beach-appropriate decorations there are for Dazzle Beach, it is nice to see that thisDisney Dreamlight ValleyStar Pathwill contain items that may prove very useful in re-decorating parts of the valley that have had otherwise limited options. That being said,DDV’s Star Paths are no joke, soyou’ll want to get started right away if you hope to unlock everythingwithout spending money before the time is up.
2PlayStation Cross-Save Is Finally Available
Cross-Save Is Officially Available Across PC, Xbox, Switch, & PlayStation
After multiple delays,PlayStation cross-save is finally available inDisney Dreamlight Valley. Other than the Apple Arcade version, which cannot permit cross-save due to its no microtransactions rule, PlayStation was the only remaining platform that did not offer cross-save with the others. Now, as of June 18th, 2025,Disney Dreamlight Valleyplayers are free to cross-save their game across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Switch.
That being said, to cross-save,you will need to re-purchaseDisney Dreamlight Valleyagain on the other platform you wish to play it on. Additionally, anyexpansions will be limited to the platform on which they were originally purchased. For example, I ownThe Storybook Valeexpansionon PC and theEternity Isleone on the Switch, so I can only access those expansions on those respective platforms. The only exception is, however, if you re-purchase the expansions on a second platform as well.
1Introduce Peter Pan To Dreamlight Valley
Convince Peter Pan You’re The Same Kid He Once Knew, Just A Bit Older Now
Last, but not least, the biggest news of the update is the addition of none other than Peter Pan. As one of Disney’s classic characters,Peter Pan is among the few that players have highly requested for years. While there is unfortunately no sign of Tinker Bell or Captain Hook as part of this update, they will likely still appear in a later update down the road.
That being said, many hope that Tinker Bell will be welcomed through something focused more on Pixie Hollow, rather thanPeter Pan, so the other fairies may be included as well. For now, however,Disney Dreamlight Valleyplayers will get to enjoy the company of the boy who never grows up as they help him re-start the Lost Boys, uncover the mysteries of Skull Rock, and chase down that stubborn shadow of his.
