Fortnite’s Ballistic mode draws inspiration from Valorant and CS:GO!
Fortnite meets CS:GO and VALORANT in the upcoming Ballistic game mode, officially turning the beloved Battle Royale title into a 5v5 first-person tactical shooter. Launching Dec. 11, this new game mode adds another element to bolster Fortnite’s impressive lineup, which already includes OG, LEGO Fortnite, Fortnite Festival, Battle Royale, and countless Creative maps.

Here is everything you need to know about the long-awaited Fortnite Ballistic FPS game mode.
How will Fortnite Ballistic work? 5v5 tactical game mode explained
Anyone familiar with Counter-Strike or VALORANT can expect a similar experience when the Fortnite Ballistic early access period begins on Dec. 11. Players will spawn on either the attackers or defenders side. There is a weapon-purchasing system where you spend money on anything from a Pistol to an Assault Rifle. You will spawn with a Ranger Pistol and 800 credits.
In Fortnite’s Ballistic game mode, the attacking side will have a bomb called a “Rift Point Device.” Since the game is round-based, eliminated players won’t respawn until the next round. After six rounds, the players swap sides, and the game ultimately ends when one team wins seven rounds. A round will end when a team successfully detonates or defuses the bomb or all players on one team are eliminated.

Meet the map: Skyline 10
Skyline 10 is your battleground in Fortnite Ballistic. This will be the only map available during the early access period. Skyline 10 features an intricate layout with various hallways and angles to work around. Based on the screenshots, there will be an “A” and “B” bombsite to attack and defend. Epic Games plans to add more maps, weapons, and features.
How does Fortnite Ballistic Ranked work?
Epic Games has announced that a Ranked and Unranked mode will be available from launch. Unranked is the more casual approach, where you’re able to learn the ropes in a stress-free setting. On the other hand, Ranked is the competitive game mode, where you will group up with your chosen teammates or random players. The game will penalize anyone who leaves a Ranked match, including a 3-minute queue suspension.
Your matchmaking experience revolves around the average rank of your party instead of your party’s highest-ranking member. Epic Games plans to monitor and adjust the Ranked format as needed. Your rank will adjust at the end of each match depending on your current rank, rounds won, rounds lost, eliminations, and assists.

Lastly, it’s worth mentioning that Russia and South Korea are the only regions without Fortnite Ballistic for now.
