As you progress through the PS5 version ofBaldur’s Gate 3, you’ll noticea quest iconthat references a journal where you can learn more about each quest accepted. But, if you’re anything like me, you might not have noticed the instructions on how to open said journal. It’s OK — there’s a lot to keep in mind as you work to removethe mind flayer parasitesfrom your noggin.
To open your journal inBaldur’s Gate 3’s PS5 edition, press the R2 trigger— this will open up a wheel of options relating directly to your character. This wheel includes your character sheet, where you can view your inventory and change your equipment, your spellbook, where you can view what spells you have equipped, and swap between turn-based and free-roam modes, among several other helpful mechanics.

But, also included in this wheel is the journal, represented by a feather, and located next to the Combat Log, which records all instances of combat that your characters engage in. In the journal, you’ll notice a fair number of helpful bits of information. There are notes on all the active/completed quests you’ve accepted, a list of inspiration for each character, a recorded history of all dialogue, and tutorials.
I can’t believe I overlooked this resource for like — the first three or four hours ofBaldur’s Gate 3. Larian’s beefy RPG throws a hefty chunk of information at you for a while, though. For the wayward Tav, you can also check out ourrundown on the Magic Mirror, plus an explainer onresting.
