King Charlesis continuing with his royal duties amid hiscancer treatment.

The monarch, 75, met with Britain’s Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, a day ahead of Hunt’s announcement of the government’sfinancial statementto the U.K. parliament.

King Charles was pictured sitting with Hunt, 57, during the morning meeting in the private audience room at the palace. While royal family members have filled in for the King at various events since hiscancer diagnosis was announced on Feb. 5, the meeting was part of the King’s constitutional duty as head of state, according to theBBC.

The monarch traditionally meets the chancellor the day before a budget is presented, but it is usually held in private, the outlet reported.

Although he has largely stepped out of the public eye in recent weeks, King Charles has continued his royal work behind the scenes and wasrecently picturedat an audience with U.K. Prime MinisterRishi Sunak.

King Charles has been primarily staying on the royal family’s Sandringham estate since the palacerevealedthat he had been diagnosed with cancer. However, he hastraveled to Londonfor treatment as well as meetings on several occasions.

On Monday, it was reported that King Charles may visit Australia later in the year on what would be his first visit to the country as the nation’s head of state.

The country is “preparing for a possible visit from His Majesty The King to Australia later this year,” Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said, according to local media outletABC.

The Telegraphpreviously reported that a government spokesman toldThe Australiannewspaper in January that “the Prime Minister enjoys a warm relationship with the King and looks forward to welcoming His Majesty to Australia later this year.”

The reports of a possible royal visit Down Under came asQueen Camillaistaking a break from royal dutiesthis week.

A source told PEOPLE that the Queen, 76, is having a scheduled week of private time which is usually carved out at this time of year and the break is not connected to King Charles’ health.

Queen Camilla’s next scheduled royal occasion will be when she leads the family, in the monarch’s place, at Westminster Abbey in London for the annual Commonwealth Day service on March 11. The King is expected to give a video address which will be played at the service.
