Scholastic esports in 2025
According to Chapman, scholastic esports can foster safe and inclusive environments. This can be done through programs that prioritize diversity, equity, and accessibility in addition to teamwork and respect. To him, these aspects both challenge stereotypes and empower underrepresented groups.
“Through meaningful partnerships, mentorship, and accessibility initiatives, we can ensure that every student, regardless of background, has the resources and support they need to thrive — both in esports and in life,” Chapman said.

Just last year, esports.gg interviewed Chapmanabout the link between esports and education. During the interview, Chapman and Stiegler EdTech (SET) chairman Tariq Bokhari emphasized the real impact of PlayVS' partnership with SET. The partnership championed digital upskilling and supported upward mobility through science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs.

As the PlayVS CMO, Cooley noted that even at the start of 2025 now, there has already been a shift in how schools, students, and parents see esports. For example, schools are increasingly recognizing esports as a valuable extracurricular activity because it teaches skills such as teamwork and leadership. As for the students themselves, esports is an inclusive and accessible way to engage and connect with others.
“Parents now see it as more than a form of entertainment, but rather as a pathway to academic success and career opportunities,” he added.

Bridging the gap between traditional sports and esports
Cooley talked about a stronger connection between traditional sports and esports as well. According to him, esports is becoming integral to youth sports programs. Partnerships with major organizations like the NFL and NHL can also boost the accessibility, visibility, and legitimacy of competitive gaming.
“These collaborations will also foster cross-disciplinary opportunities, where athletes from both realms can inspire and elevate each other, creating a more dynamic and inclusive future for youth sports,” he said.

In terms of other insights, Chapman shared his thoughts on artificial intelligence (AI) and accessibility features. Together, these features can reshape player experiences and create avenues for engagement and interaction, he added.
