With an open-world title such as Insomniac Games' upcomingSpider-Man, one question seems to always be on everyone’s mind: “just how big is the map going to be?” Thankfully, the developer has an answer for us, even if it can’t go into exact specifics just yet.

Responding to a recent tweet asking how large New York City will be in the upcomingSpider-Manfor PS4, Insomniac Games replied with a claim that the map will be “several times larger” thanSunset Overdrive’s ‘Sunset City’.  Of course this still leaves the actual size fairly ambiguous, but it means that players will easily have enough room to explore the city as everyone’s favorite web-slinger.

Chances are, the newSpider-Manmap will still be far smaller than games such asThe Witcher 3or the more recentLegend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but this might be the largest explorable area we’ve ever seen in aSpider-Mangame. In our time seeing the game at E3 2017, Insomniac confirmed that the game will focus on the main island of New York, and fans can expect to see plenty of familiar landmarks.

On top of that, fans can expect that there will be plenty to see and do, as well as a vast array of tall buildings to swing from. According to the developer, the all-important web-swinging is set to bebased on physics and momentum, which is sure to have the wall-crawler shooting around the city, no matter the size.

While map size is sure to be important for the majority of fans, it’s worth pointing out thatBatman: Arkham Asylumhad a relatively small amount of explorable space for a game so well-received. The highly-anticipatedSpider-Manis confirmed to betaking inspiration from theArkhamgames, though we’d say it certainly looks closer toArkham CityorArkham Knightin terms of actual gameplay.

With all the excitement surrounding Insomniac’s new project, it’s certainly not difficult to see why Sony believes that this could be the game to pushPS4 sales to 100 million. It’s going to be hard to contain the hype until release, but we’re sure the developers are getting ready to launch the best Marvel title sinceSpider-Man 2, and it’s hopefully worth the wait.
