Ubisoft confirms the 5.6 update is the last forWatch Dogs Legion
Major developments look to be coming to a close on the latestWatch Dogsgame. In anannouncement, Ubisoft confirms that the 5.6 update is the final update forWatch Dogs Legion.
The update, released last September, is now the last one on the books. TheWatch Dogs Legiondev team says that reward tracks will continue to roll out through the Online Mode. The current season, Rebels, ran until Jan. 22, followed by the fifth season Stripes. After season 5 is finished, seasons 3 through 5 will cycle, letting players hop back in and get any rewards they missed the first go-around.

The update onWatch Dogs Legionends on this note:
“The game has grown by leaps and bounds, with a ton of content to explore, from a sprawling near future city to an action-packed Online Mode. We couldn’t be prouder of the game we’ve created, and we appreciate all of you who’ve joined us on this journey in London over the year. We look forward to seeing more of your adventures in Legion!”
Watch Dogs Legionwas a pretty interesting twist on the open-world hacker adventure. Its main draw was the be-anybody system. Foregoing a traditional party or protagonist, you instead just hopped around recruitable NPCs from the world. Despite the novelty, though, it didhave some parts that seemed to have troubleclicking together.

With development seemingly retroactively coming to an end, it does leave me curious what the future ofWatch Dogswill be.Assassin’s Creedis working on its next steps withInfinity, areportedly live service modelthat matches up with Ubisoft’s many other live service options.Watch Dogs Legion, however, is closing its doors. Hopefully its ideas live on a little bit. Much like theNemesis system, I’d love to see someone else tackle the “be anyone” approach.
